Pulling Back the Curtain of Political Theatre

There are no dark corners any more, meaning the back-room political manoeuvring of yore comes with unavoidable consequences.  Some folk are trying out a new kind of politics; others are digging their heels in and upping their defiance.
Some others are figuring that the rules don't apply to them and carrying on as usual.
Meanwhile, the public isn't as naive as once it was.  A bit of lateral awareness will do that to you.  It's becoming increasingly clear that political business as usual will no longer work.  Something different is required.
Where do we go from here, then?
Without trying to sound trite, there's only one way we can go.  It's the direction we keep heading in, through fits and spurts.
Progress is slow, but we're getting there; it's just a matter of time.
