Building the Platform for a Conscious Society

With a Liberal Leadership race on in the province of Ontario and a spring general election likely to follow, now is the time for political leaders, would-be leaders and all Ontarians to be thinking about what kind of society we want to build for tomorrow. This society needs to be conscious of the diverse needs of Ontarians today, as well - urban and rural, of different abilities and aspirations, new and established Canadians.

A Society that is consciously able to balance our diverse needs today while laying track for success in an uncertain world tomorrow will need to build on the strengths of every Ontarian - but it'll have to nurture those strengths as well.

Strong Ontarians consciously working to build a strong Ontario, steered by a government that leads by example - it's a society worth building, together.
Our policy makers are like the stone in the pot - they can only make soup with the ingredients we give them.  It's up to all Ontarians to bring forward their ideas and encourage those leaders to find compromise solutions that everyone can live with.

Starting today, I'm going to be throwing out some ideas on how we can nurture that kind of society - call it my platform for a Conscious Society. These ideas are based on my experience, research and conversations with people from all walks of life.  You'll know a plank because it will start with A CONSCIOUS SOCIETY.

I certainly don't have all the answers - I'm just throwing ideas in the pot.  I'd love to hear your ideas and opinions too; please drop them in the comments section or start your own list.
