Rocco Galati for Open Government

I read this and thought to myself, here's a guy who'd be fun to have a wine with.

Opinionated, data-oriented, focused on justice over even his reputation.  Yet clearly, the guy's a character - he knows a bit about engagement, which is not what data presentation generally is.

Of late I've got to know Ari Goldkind, another lawyer with an easy, in-your-face personality.  He's brutally honest, passionate about what he does and is known to be eminently quotable.

Folk like this aren't worried about blowing their chances by taking on challenging cases.  It's folks like Galati who see that the potential win is totally worth the risk, not just for their reputation but for the well-being of the country.

In other words, he sounds like the kind of guy who'd find a friendly audience via #OGT14.

Open Government, folks - the peaceable revolution is at hand.

So why didn’t anyone else challenge the appointment? “Look,” Mr. Galati says, “there are about 300,000 lawyers in Canada. I think 299,995 think they’re all going to the Supreme Court and they don’t want to blow their chances. They’re worried about their reputation.”
