Leaders Take the Hit

Terrible bosses throw their employees under the bus.  

Good bosses never throw their employees under the bus.

Memorable bosses see the bus coming and pull their employees out of the way often without the employee knowing until much, much later... if ever, because memorable bosses never try to take credit.

And if they can't, they take the hit.

If you have a boss who tells you it's your job to protect the company, your job to protect them and your job to take care of yourself at the same time, they aren't a leader.  They're a boss.

True leadership is a rare thing, really; like humility, it can't self-advertise by its nature.  But we all know leadership when we see it.

And it exists even when we don't.  That's the point, really - not obeisance, but empowerment and facilitation.

Leaders sacrifice so that we may accomplish.
