Cognitive Dissonance is Skin-Tone Deaf

Romancing or befriending someone of another race and then acting like a piece-of-shit racist is an American tradition almost as old as millionaires who claim to be devout Christians despite not having given all of their possessions to the poor.

It's a sad, ironic truth - the more virulently people stand against each other, the more alike they become.    

Or should I say, we become.  

Whether you see yourself as a White Saviour or see The Other as a threat to be firewalled out, it all boils down to the same thing.  Fear and anger are a curse we hold in common.

The solution isn't fear, it's understanding.  That's the gift we build together.
