Stephen Harper's Choice: To Boldly Go or To Cower Behind?

Says Stephen Harper Trade Minister Ed Fast:

"Their vision for Canada is a country that turns inward out of insecurity, a Canada that cowers, a Canada that lacks confidence. Our Conservative government categorically rejects that view."

Says Stephen Harper:

“A sea of troubles is lapping at our shores.  Under our leadership, this country, Canada, is the closest thing the world has to an island of stability and security.”

Bold outreach and hiding behind firewalls are views at distinct odds with each other.

For what it's worth, I agree with Fast on this - we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
